The deadline for registration of films for the competition programmes of the tenth International Animation Festival Animanima 2016 has now expired. Dear authors, producers and distributors from forty countries around the world, it is thanks to you that we can look forward to a fantastic Festival edition this year!
The most recent edition of Animanima remains firmly focused on in its mission adopted ten years ago, when we first embarked on this great festival adventure: every year we should offer as many quality authors’ films as possible, and share this enormous pleasure with the audience, enjoying the screenings in the large festival hall, from the early morning hours until late in the evening! Once again, our team in charge of the Festival organisation will be spending long hours of reviewing the films, going over and over again through the most
interesting works in order to short list the ones that will make the competition programmes an extraordinary experience for all of the festival visitors.
We know that you must be impatient to see the final list – for the time being, however, all we can say is that your patience will be rewarded, since the films we have received include ones endorsed by established film directors whose each new release is a real treat for animation lovers, as well as films created by incredible enthusiasm, knowledge and huge talent of young artists from all over the world, making their first steps in the international animation arena. A real revel! Since mid-July, our web pages will be updated with first information about the forthcoming events taking place between 7th and 11th September at Animanima No. 10.
NEW LOOK FOR THE JUBILEE EDITION
Davor Gromilović is the author of the design for the 2016 edition
Animanima certainly deserves a special look for its tenth jubilee edition and this has been taken care of by the young artist from Sombor, Davor Gromilović. Davor’s rich intimate world interacts with the empirical outside world; drawing inspiration from folk art, fairy-tales and music, he creates his authentic art, imaginative and deeply thoughtful. The phantasmagorical universe of his drawings, paintings and illustrations has overflowed into the newest visual rhapsody, vibrantly resounding under the name of Animanima!
Do not miss the chance to visit Davor’s author’s exhibition entitled ’Crystallization’ which will be presented during the festival!
The Animanima 2015 promotional video entitled ‘The King of the Woods’, work of young and talented animator Ivan Stojković has been shortlisted for the competition programme of the world’s largest animation festival in Annecy, in the category of commissioned films.
We are proud of Ivan, as this is an outstanding achievement both for him and Serbian animation as well! Let us all keep our fingers crossed for "The King of the Woods" to do well in the proverbially tough competition and perhaps reach one of the official acknowledgements or awards!
Among the authors of the forty films from twenty countries were some of the well-known names from the global animation scene (Konstantin Bronzit, Michaela Pavlatova, Adam Elliot, Andreas Hykade, Piotr Dumala… ), as well as a number of younger generation artists, whose talent overwhelmingly delights audiences of festivals around the world. ‘The Golden Pegbar’ was awarded to ‘La chair de ma chere’ by Calvin Antoine Blandin.
