The hub of the cultural events, deeply rooted in the whole of the social and economic life of the city, the Cultural Centre is a major initiator and creator of the cultural habits of the local people. It is located in the city centre, in a building dominating the main square, a 1970 design of the Zagreb-based architect Lujo Sverer. Since its opening in 1971, the Cultural Centre has played a vital role of the city´s mediator of cultural events, featuring countless theatre performances, film projections, concerts, exhibitions, literary evenings, discussions…

Apart form the ANIMANIMA festival, the Cultural Centre organises two more important events – ‘Days of Photography in Serbia’ and the exhibition of paintings, ‘The Spring Annual’. The educational programme is realized through the activities of the Actors Workshop, the Animation Film Centre, the Painting and the Ballet Studio.

The publishing activities of the Cultural Centre are organised around two magazines: the Gradac magazine, a specialist edition dedicated to art and culture (the Cultural Centre is the co-publisher of Gradac, together with the Gradac Art Society), and the up-and-coming ART 032 magazine. The Cultural Centre building houses the "Branislava Maltez" bookshop, adding variety to the Centre´s cultural programme. Apart form creating and presenting various cultural and art events, the Cultural Centre is involved in the organisation of seminars, fairs, commercial presentations and other events.
