THE PORTRAIT OF AN
ANIMATOR: IGOR KOVALYOV
Igor Kovalyov is an internationally acclaimed filmmaker,
designer, animator, and director. His short films Andrei
Svislotski (1991), Hen, His Wife (1989), Bird in the Window
(1996) and Flying Nansen (2000) have received numerous awards
and accolades throughout the animation and film community.
Kovalyov's retrospective at the ANIMANIMA 2008 also includes his
film Milch (2005).

Arnaldo Galvao: 'In this show we aim at presenting a synthesis
of what is being produced in Brazil. It includes short animated
films, films made by Brazilian indians, advertising, video clips
and films for TV. Films in various visual styles, original work
of authorship, narration quality and technical commitment
developed by restless professionals with critical and creative
spirit and who change lights, shapes and movements into an
enchanting art and vanguard focusing on the industry.'

Chomón, Fernand Leger, Emile Cohl, Berthold Bartosch and many
others. A special programme realised in collaboration with the
French National Center for Cinematography (CNC) and Yugoslav

BIGFISH.TV is a "two-man band". Sheldon Lieberman (sound and
directing) is in Australia and Igor Ćorić (animation and
directing) is in Serbia. This team produce a new animated film
on a weekly basis. This may sound crazy, but everything seems to

Ever wondered what would happen if David Lynch and Franz Kafka
got together and made a cartoon? Dark city, dark faces, dark
freakish characters with peculiar phobias and philias… you name
it. It would be light years far from Disney and very far from
Simpsons. It would actually be far from anything you have ever
seen. Welcome to the ONE NIGHT IN ONE CITY a new feature by
Czech director Jan Balej.

PETER AND THE WOLF
On the edge of the vast forests of Russia, where wolves
still roam, lies a little cottage surrounded by a big, high
fence. This is where Peter lives with his grumpy Grandfather.
Grandfather will not let Peter go out into the forest. "What if
a wolf comes? What then?"... Annecy 2007 and Oscar Award® 2008
winner, PETER AND THE WOLF, a wonderful film by Suzie Templeton
from Great Britain will be screened right after ANIMANIMA 2008
opening ceremony.
